Thanks Alex, I appreciate it. I made a decision to leave java and do my web app prototyping in ruby (and mostly rails) two years ago. now, with the advent of node, and some of the limitations i've experienced with rails and rich client-side stuff, i'm wondering if my long-term might not be better met by diversifying into javascript and, separately, something like python. i'll be trying to understand reasons why python might (or might not) be a suitable successor to ruby for me...
